On Friday, Stewart was not the only running back to commit to Virginia Tech as Central Missouri's Marcellous Hawkins committed shortly after Stewart. This season Hawkins only played in three games, but in 2023 he rushed for over 1,000 yards and 18 touchdowns while averaging 6.7 yards a carry.

With the younger backs mentioned above and Stewart, it will be interesting to see how Hawkins ends up working out and how offensive coordinator Tyler Bowen uses him. Pry is hoping to find success with Hawkins and Stewart.
This is the biggest unknown so far in this transfer portal class for the Hokies. Hampton's Jahzari Priester, who checked in at 6-foot-8 and 290 pounds during his visit to Virginia Tech, began playing football in his senior year of high school.

This season for the Pirates, he registered 16 tackles and two sacks while playing 167 snaps. He is a defensive tackle and help along the line on that side of the ball is needed after all the players leave this season. He has three years of eligibility remaining.
