Over the last couple of seasons, Virginia Tech football coach Brent Pry and his staff have put together some talented classes. Two years ago, the Hokies went all-in with offensive players. Running back Bhayshul Tuten, quarterback Kyron Drones, and wide receivers Jaylin Lane, Da'Quan Felton, and Ali Jennings were just a few impact players to come to Blacksburg.
Last season, Virginia Tech got offensive lineman, Montavious Cunningham, while on the defensive side, Kemari Copeland, Aeneas Peeble, and Kelvin Gilliam, while linebacker Sam Brumfield came over from Middle Tennessee State. Copeland had his season cut short with an injury, but the other all played a big role in the Hokies' 2024 season, albeit a disappointing one in terms of preseason expectations to a 6-6 campaign.
So far this portal season had been quiet until earlier this week when Virginia Tech got their first portal commitment and then added three more on Friday. So far the Hokies have added players on both sides of the ball and experienced ones for the most part. Pry has several needs in this portal cycle and expect more players to commit over the coming days with many recruits on campus for visits.
With that said, let's take a deeper look into who has committed and signed with the Hokies and then. give out a grade for each transfer portal addition to date.
