It has been eight months since Virginia Tech officially hired James Franklin as their next football coach, replacing his former Penn State defensive coordinator, Brent Pry, who was fired after a Week 3 loss at home to Old Dominion last September. Pry was hired three months later as Franklin's defensive coordinator at Virginia Tech.
After he was fired at Penn State in October, Franklin has a big chip on his shoulder, and if there was ever a program that could hire him and take advantage of that chip, it's Virginia Tech. The Hokies are seen by many across the country as a sleeping giant waiting to be woken up.
At ACC Media Days last month, Franklin commented on Virginia Tech winning the offseason, and of course, Franklin trolls on social media took the quote and ran with it and twisted it out of context. It was understandable what he was trying to say, and now, the offseason work that has been put in will be tested in camp and on the field in 12 games this season. With that said, here is a Virginia Tech guide for camp, which gets underway this week.
