After being selected by the Washington Commanders in the NFL Draft in April, former Virginia Tech wide receiver has been turning heads. Entering his first full training camp, the former Middle Tennessee State transfer is looking to make a name for himself and on the 53-man roster when the season opens in September.

According to Sean Robertson of CBS 6 Sports, Lane wants to "Dominate in his role!" Well, after the first few days, it's safe to say that he is backing up his words.

Lane is looking to contribute in multiple ways for the Commanders this upcoming season, at wide receiver and returning punts, something he did very well for the Hokies in 2024 after Tucker Holloway was ruled out for the year with an injury. On Sunday morning at Commanders practice, Lane backed up his talk with an insane catch.

As you can see, Lane hauls in a pass from quarterback Jayden Daniels in the back of the end zone, yes, I know, he might have been out of bounds, but who cares? A catch like that while being defended by Mikey Sainristill and Quan Martin will open some eyes among the fans and coaching staff.

As there is with all NFL rookies, there will be some growing pains, but right now, and it is still early, but right now, he looks like he'll fit right into Kliff Kingsbury's offense in Washington, which is wide open and spreads the ball around to a number of receivers. Lane was making plays for the Hokies the last two seasons and explosive ones downfield, and being able to get behind his defender. It's early, but with each passing day and practice, the Commanders look like they got a draft steal with Lane falling to them on Day 3.
