When the Virginia Tech football team kicked off the 2024 season at Vanderbilt, there were high expectations for the season because of a ton of retainment they got from 2023. Some of the retainment was in the secondary with a number of key players coming back for another season in Blacksburg.

One of those players was safety Jalen Stroman was a key piece to the secondary for the Hokies. Unfortunately for Bristow, Virginia native, it was not the year that he and head coach Brent Pry were hoping for. He was injured in the season opener against the Commodores in an overtime loss after accumulating five tackles. It turns out that it was the last game he'd play for Virginia Tech.

Jalen Stroman commits to Notre Dame

After the season ended, Stroman was a number of Hokies who entered the transfer portal for 2025 in the secondary. Mose Phillips committed to Missouri and Mansoor Delane ended up at LSU, but Stroman remained uncommitted. That was until Sunday.

It was reported Sunday morning that Stroman will be going to Notre Dame next season to join the Irish who are playing in the National Championship Game a week from Monday against Ohio State. Of course, he won't be playing in that game, but he got himself a great landing spot for 2025 to bolster his stock for the NFL Draft in 2026.

In four years with Virginia Tech, he racked up 112 tackles, an even split of 56 solo and assisted tackles with a pair of forced fumbles. His best season was in 2023 when he recorded a career-high 55 tackles after having 43 in 2022.
