After going undrafted in the 2025 NBA Draft, former Virginia Tech men's basketball guard Sean Pedulla signed a two-way contract with the Los Angeles Clippers back in February after getting his NBA feet wet in the G League with Portland's club, the Rip City Remix.
How good was he in the G League? He was named G League Player of the Year after averaging 20.3 points and 4.5 assists for the Remix while shooting the ball well, as he did during his time in Blacksburg and in his final college season at Ole Miss.
The 6-foot-1 Oklahoma native was a free agent this summer, and on Monday, per his agent George Langberg, he signed a two-way deal with the Houston Rockets, using up their third and final two-way slot of the upcoming season.
Will Sean Pedulla stick with the Houston Rockets?
Catching on with Houston is a better fit for Pedulla in terms of winning, as the Rockets are a Western Conference contender with Kevin Durant and the rest of the roster, but finding an open roster spot for Pedulla is going to be a lot easier said than done.
Houston is loaded with guards currently, with Amen Thompson, Fred VanVleet, Marcus Smart, and Reed Sheppard. Smart was signed in free agency after spending last season with the Los Angeles Lakers. The Rockets also used their first-round pick in June's draft to select Bruce Thornton, who played at Ohio State.
Pedulla spent his first three college seasons at Virginia Tech, averaging 12.1 points, 3.2 assists, and 1.0 steals per game before hitting the Transfer Portal after his junior season in 2024. He ended up committing to and playing at Ole Miss, where he played a big role in the Rebels getting into the NCAA Tournament. He averaged 15.4 points a game in Mississippi, 3.8 assists, and 3.5 rebounds in his only season in Oxford.
Houston signed former Syracuse, McNeese State, and North Carolina State guard Quadir Copeland recently on a two-way contract as well.
