Over the last 10 years, Virginia Tech football fans have been waiting for the excitement that the 2026 season is beginning to build. Sure, two years ago, there was a lot of hype before the 2024 season and rightfully so, but things went south and went south quickly with an overtime loss to Vanderbilt in Week 1 in Nashville.

However, there are a lot of reasons why there is a lot of hype for not only this year, but for the future. James Franklin is in charge in Blacksburg after he was fired at Penn State and hired by Virginia Tech. There has been a lot of turnover with the roster and coaching staff, as well as a lot of additions through the Transfer Portal.

The changes are noticeable, and everyone is catching on. Former Virginia Tech offensive lineman Wyatt Teller is the latest to like the way things are trending for his alma mater.

Teller, who is now playing for the Houston Texans after leaving the Cleveland Browns, was a guest on the latest 'Set in Stone' and didn't beat around the bush about the way things are trending under James Franklin.

Let's be honest, Virginia Tech is taking steps in the right direction, and it is long overdue. Justin Fuente and Brent Pry didn't have nearly the resources that Franklin is going to have. Not even close. If you think so, I'm not sure what to tell you. James Franklin's hiring is a game-changer in more ways than one. Let's call like it is.

Teller is just the latest to talk about it. Virginia Tech was nowhere near where they needed to be in terms of resources to compete with the other schools in the ACC. The results spoke for themselves. However, it started last summer, and it has continued to this date, where the resources are being pumped into the program. It's long overdue, and Teller is right, it's just different.
