Throughout his NFL career, former Virginia Tech kicker Joey Slye has shown off his explosive leg. The 29-year-old has kicked for six teams in his seven seasons; the most recent season was spent with the Tennessee Titans.

Despite the Titans struggling once again on the field, the former Hokie didn't. He set a franchise record last fall, one year after setting one with the New England Patriots in 2024. His 2025 season was good enough to earn another contract for the 2026 season when he agreed to a one-year deal to remain in Tennessee.

After kicking in New England in 2024, he kicked in 16 games for the Titans in 2025, where he was 28-for-35, and he connected on 26 of his 27 extra points. Slye set a Tennessee franchise record by booting nine field goals from 50 yards-plus. He drilled nine of his 14 kicks from that range, which isn't surprising given his strong leg that has been on display throughout his career in the NFL.

Slye was perfect from 20-29 yards, making all six kicks, while he made all six kicks from between 30-39 yards. He was 7-for-9 from between 40-49 yards. He recorded 110 points for the Titans last season, and he eclipsed the 100-point plateau for the fourth time in his career.

In 2024 with the Patriots, Slye drilled a franchise record 63-yard field goal against the San Francisco 49ers. He has also kicked for the Carolina Panthers, Washington Commanders, and 49ers. Every single year he has been in the NFL, his longest kick each year has been over 50 yards. He kicked a 61-yard field goal for the Commanders in 2023.

It isn't surprising that the Titans brought Slye back on a one-year deal for next season, which should be a better season under first-year head coach Robert Saleh.
