After winning four of five games over the weekend at the Bama Bash at the University of Alabama, the 17th-ranked Virginia Tech softball head according to ESPN, headed to Lynchburg for a Top 25 matchup against 24th-ranked Liberty.
After splitting two games with No. 22 Alabama and beating Drake and sweeping a doubleheader from Southern Utah, the Hokies faced a difficult non-conference matchup with the Flames. Virginia Tech scored early and often with the long ball to roll to a five-inning victory over Liberty that included another Emma Lemley no-hitter to improve to 13-3 on the season while the Flames fell to 12-4.
Lemley faced 16 batters, walked one, and struck out five in recording her no-hitter to go along with her two perfect games. She has been dominating in the circle and now has a perfect game and a no-hitter against a pair of Top 25 teams early in the season.

Offensively, Virginia Tech gave Lemley all the run support she would need in the top of the first inning. Cori McMillan led off the game with a home run and Jayden Jones followed with her own blast for a 2-0 lead two batters into the game. One out later, Bre Peck launched a home run for a 3-0 lead. What an impressive on-slaught to begin the game.
While Lemley and her defense were taking care of Liberty, Michell Chatfield had an RBI single in the third and Jordan Lynch drove in a run on a fielder's choice in the third inning for a 5-0 lead. The Hokies plated four more runs in the fifth with Peck delivering an RBI single and Lynch adding a two-run double.
