After being upset on Saturday night at Stanford, there was speculation that Florida State might be moving on from head coach Mike Norvell. On Monday, the Seminoles' head coach got a vote of confidence from athletic director Michael Alford for the rest of the regular season.
CBS Sports college football analyst Bud Elliott posted the statement on his X account and got a ton of replies. One of them read, "Empty stadium going forward then.....'' Elliott quoted the response and wrote the following,
You already played the home games people would go to. Nobody cares to watch Wake and Va Tech https://t.co/KN9Iebp5GX

Ouch, that hurts. Elliott is referring to FSU's final two home games of the season against, you guessed it, Wake Forest and Virginia Tech. The Seminoles play the Demon Deacons on Nov. 1 at 7:30 p.m. on the ACC Network. Virginia Tech visits on Nov. 15.
CBS Sports fires unnecessary strays at Virginia Tech and Wake Forest
It's safe to say that Virginia Tech fans quickly defended the program and the rest of the fanbase about the swipe Elliott took.
Woah woah woah not needed!

Damn Bud, that hurt.

Even one Wake Forest fan pointed out something important to Elliott that Lane Stadium was full a couple of weeks ago when the Demon Deacons visited Blacksburg.
Nobody cares? VT had a sellout against us

Things are certainly not great right now in Blacksburg around the program. Brent Pry was fired after Week 3. There have been a ton of injuries that interim coach Philip Montgomery and his staff have had to deal with, along with players entering the Transfer Portal during the 30-day window after the coaching change.
There is a committee formed to find the next head coach at Virginia Tech, but the national perspective is clear, outside of the fanbase, nobody will be setting their schedule around Hokies' football games. It sums up the troubles the program has endured this year, and hopes the committee can strike it big in hiring the next head coach. Until then, these shots will continue to be fired.
