Brent Pry is trying to turn the Virginia Tech football program around and get it back to its glory days under legendary coach Frank Beamer. As he enters his fourth year in Blacksburg, he is coming off a second straight 6-6 regular season that was finished off with a Duke’s Mayo Bowl loss to Minnesota. Two years ago, they were in the mix for a berth in the ACC Championship Game, and this past season was a swing and miss of a season with all the retention and portal additions the Hokies had.

Pry has gone from winning the fanbase over to getting more heat on him entering the 2025 season after a disappointing 2024 season. Hokies fans want a winner and a program that wins more than six games in the regular season. While Pry draws the ire of the Virginia Tech fanbase, which other coaches drive Hokies’ fans crazy? We took to social media to ask, and here are the results.

3. Mack Brown

This one is surprising, if we're being honest. During his tenure at North Carolina, he split his four games with the Hokies, losing maybe the most memorable game in 2021 at Lane Stadium when fans were let back in stadiums, and what an entrance that was in a 17-10 Tech victory. Brown is legendary from his time at Texas, but his time at UNC was ended last fall when he was fired for Bill Belichick.

2. Brian Kelly

Seeing Brian Kelly on the list is a little bit of a surprise, but not a huge shocker. He has always had loaded teams and never been able to get over the hump at FBS level, whether he was at Notre Dame or LSU now.

He gets animated on the sideline, but nothing over the top, but enough to annoy fan bases. He has become a punch line among college football fans and on social media over his team's failures to win the big game. He has had mixed results against the Hokies, including a 20-7 loss in the 2009 Orange Bowl when he was head coach at Cincinnati.

1. Pat Narduzzi

Having Pat Narduzzi here is not a surprise. The Panthers' coach has been one who can rub people the wrong way, and he always draws the ire of opposing fan bases. It’s not like his teams have been very successful. Last season, case in point, Pitt started 7-0, then lost their last six games, including their bowl game. Another reason Hokies fans don’t like Narduzzi as Pittsburgh is an ACC school that battles with Virginia Tech for some of the same players in recruiting.
