Since being drafted in the sixth round of the 2011 NFL Draft, former Virginia Tech quarterback Tyrod Taylor has carved out a professional football career that will be entering his 15th season. Going into the 2024 season, Taylor signed in free agency with the New York Jets to back up Aaron Rodgers.

Following last season, the signs were there that Rodgers and the Jets were going to go their separate ways, and that has been the case. In March, when NFL free agency opened, New York signed former Ohio State QB Justin Fields, and Taylor will serve as a veteran mentor this season. However, one NFL writer sees the Jets' room as one of the worst in the league.

CBS writer lists New York Jets as one of the worst QB rooms in the NFL

Garrett Podell of CBS Sports ranked the Top 10 worst quarterback rooms in the NFL, and coming in at No. 6 was Taylor and the Jets. To be fair, this is nothing against Taylor and more of Fields has struggled since coming into the NFL from Ohio State. Here is what Podell wrote about Fields,

"Former first-round pick Justin Fields signed a two-year, $40 million with the New York Jets that included $30 million guaranteed after the Steelers went 4-2 in his six starts while averaging 20.7 points per game. He improved upon many things that he struggled with as a Chicago Bear in his lone season in Pittsburgh."

Here is what he wrote about Taylor.

"Tyrod Taylor, who will turn 36 years old before the 2025 preseason kicks off on Aug. 3, earned a Pro Bowl selection as the Buffalo Bills' starting quarterback 10 years ago in 2015. He's been a journeyman since 2018, playing for the Cleveland Browns (2018), Los Angeles Chargers (2019-20), Houston Texans (2021), New York Giants (2022-23), and New York Jets (2024). Adrian Martinez entered the NFL as an undrafted free agent in 2023 and has yet to see regular-season action while with the Detroit Lions (2023) and New York Jets (2024-present).

Can Fields turn his struggles around with the Jets? That'll be the question and Taylor is there more so to mentor the youngster, but if he gets pressed into action, the former Hokies' QB will be more than ready to go on a team that might be the worst in the AFC East.
