Monday was a huge day in terms of news for the future of the Virginia Tech football program. First, the expected plan to get more money into the athletic budget ahead of next week's meeting was released, then later in the day, Pete Nakos of On3 reported that Bruce Arians is expected to consult and lend his expertise to the Hokies' hiring committee to find the next coach to replace Brent Pry.

That is major news, and on Tuesday, Arians joined the Pat McAfee Show and gave a hint of what is to come in Blacksburg in the not-too-distant future.

As soon as it was reported that Arians was going to be involved, it got the fanbase excited. The former Hokies quarterback is a Super Bowl winner and will be just what the program needs to help them adjust to the next phase for the program. He joined the Pat McAfee Show and had an eye-opening quote.

"All business now,'' said Arians. "First thing for Virginia Tech is we're gonna hire a General Manager and get him in charge of football, and get him in charge of football, then we'll hire a coach. The university is making a huge financial commitment so that we can compete in the ACC like we should be."

Now that Arians confirmed his involvement and he went on to talk about money and getting the resources needed to compete with NIL and other programs around the country, the wheels are officially in motion and in motion quickly. This has been said before, but this is a vital time for the athletic department and, more importantly, the football program in terms of hiring the next coach and building things on the fly for 2026 and beyond.
