As it the second half against Vanderbilt wasn't bad enough for the Virginia Tech football team against Vanderbilt on Saturday night at Lane Stadium, where they were outscored 34-0 in a 44-20 loss, one position that really couldn't afford any injuries was hit with two big ones.

Offensive linemen Johnny Garrett and Montavious Cunningham were injured as the Hokies dropped to 0-2. Garrett was injured late in the first half and limped off the field after being down for a while on Virginia Tech's final drive of the half. He didn't play in the second half, and it forced freshman Aidan Lynch into his first action.

Brent Pry gives update on two injured offensive linemen ahead of Old Dominion game

Pry met with the media on Tuesday and he gave an update on both players ahead of this weekend's game against Old Dominion in what is, you know, a must-win game. Where have we heard that before?

"No, we'll learn more today, you know, obviously those two guys are critical,'' said Pry. "I look out there in that second half, we got three redshirt freshmen against the pretty experienced crew, but you know Johnny's tough, Mont's tough. You know, if those guys can go, they'll go. Johnny's kind of, you know, that left tackle spot, we moved Tomas over, put Aidan at right. You know, we're gonna look at a couple of things, but we won't know exactly what we need to do until we know who we have.''

Pry will likely give more updates as early as Wednesday, but if either player is out, then that is going to force Pry and offensive line coach Matt Moore to really go deep into their depth. We saw how that unfolded last week against the Commodores in the second half when the result spoke for itself on offense. Missing one or both players would be a tough blow for the Hokies.
