Boston College coach Bill O'Brien gives big injury update ahead of Virginia Tech
By Scott Roche
One thing that the Boston College football program is known for is its offensive line. They have recruited and developed some of the best in business that have gone to play at the next level on Sundays.
Behind that offensive line, the Eagles also have had some good running backs over time and this season, they have one of the better ones in the ACC in Kye Robichaux. This season, however, he has been dealing with an injury, as so many players have for different teams, and he even missed a game on Sept. 21 in Chestnut Hill in a win over Michigan State. Ahead of this week’s game at Virginia Tech, Eagles coach Bill O’Brien gave an update on his talented running back.

Boston College will come to Blacksburg this Thursday night for a 7:30 p.m. kickoff on ESPN and according to O’Brien, who is in his first full season in charge of the Eagles after replacing Jeff Hafley who left to become the Green Bay Packers defensive coordinator, Robichaux is good to go against the Hokies.
“Yeah, he's good to go,” said O’Brien. “Yep, he's doing a good job. He's been out there. All the backs are good to go.”
This season has been somewhat of a struggle for the senior from Columbus, Georgia. He has rushed for just 204 yards on 53 carries and a pair of touchdowns, but he has made the most of his carries. He rushed for 81 yards and a touchdown in a 21-20 win over Western Kentucky. In a season-opening 28-13 win at Florida State on Labor Day Weekend, he ran for 85 yards and a touchdown against the Seminoles.
Last season he missed the game at home against Virginia Tech in a 48-22 Hokies victory, but he had four 100-yard rushing games in 2023 and is certainly someone that Tech’s defense can’t let get going on Thursday night.
