When Aeneas Peebles committed to Virginia Tech in the transfer portal from Duke in 2023, he gave Hokies fans a preview of what they would be getting in the Blue Devils bowl game that year against Troy. As it turns out, Peebles was as good as advertised in 2024 for the Hokies.
Virginia Tech was thrilled when they landed Peebles in the portal and he finished the season with 30 tackles, 1o solo and three sacks. His presence along the line at tackle opened things up for Antwaun Powell-Ryland and the rest of the line to get after the opposing quarterbacks. Both players are part of six Virginia Tech players at the 2025 NFL Combine looking to impress teams and scouts ahead of April's draft in Green Bay.
Thursday was the first day of on-field workouts for the players and Peebles was up first in the 40-yard dash. When the dest settled, he had one of his more impressive performances.
Former Virginia Tech tackle Aeneas Peebles has impressive speed during his 40-yard dash
Peebles ran the 40-yard dash twice on Thursday with a time of 4.95 seconds on his first run, then 5.02 seconds on his next. What was impressive about his first run was that he was clocked at 20.47 MPH on his first run of 4.95 seconds. That was the fastest MPH until Ty Robinson of Nebraska was clocked in at 20.46 MPH.
Virginia Tech DT Aeneas Peebles is the leader so far in this group topping out at 20.47 MPH in his 40-yard for a 4.95s unofficial team.

The fact that Peebles ran the 40 at 20.47 MPH is actually insane. Who knew the 6-foot-1, 280-pound plus lineman had that speed? That certainly had to open some eyes with the scouts in attendance and it's just another example of him raising his draft stock. Of course there are other drills that he's going to go through, but you can't say that he didn't have a good start to the combine.
