Earlier this month, it was revealed that the ACC is going from a 20-game ACC schedule next season to an 18-game conference schedule in an attempt to play more non-conference games and build up better résumés for the NCAA Tournament.

On Wednesday, the ACC released the home and away opponents for each school for the 2025-26 season, along with the two opponents that each school will play twice. It was broken down into a pair of groups, Primary Partners and Variable Partners, for the 2025-26 season. For Virginia Tech, their Primary Partner is Virginia, which is obvious, and they'll play twice, home and away, while their Variable Partner for the 2025-26 is Wake Forest

Virginia Tech will host Virginia, Wake Forest, California, Stanford, Florida State, Georgia Tech, Duke, Notre Dame, and Boston College. Virginia Tech will travel to Virginia, Wake Forest, SMU, Miami, Clemson, North Carolina State, North Carolina, Louisville, and Syracuse. They will not play Pittsburgh.

What does all this mean? Well, it means that the Hokies have a very, very difficult road conference schedule. Virginia Tech will travel to the three up-and-coming teams with new coaches, NC State, Miami, and Virginia. Of course, playing the Cavaliers on the road is going to be a yearly event, but the difficult road games don't end there. They will also travel to North Carolina, Clemson, and Louisville.

The good news is that Tobi Lawal announced on Tuesday that he's returning to Blacksburg for his senior year, and with some key retention and portal additions, improving on 13 wins for Mike Young and the Hokies is certainly well within reach.

They will have their work cut out for them both at home and on the road in the conference, and hopefully will be in the group of teams that will be in Charlotte for the ACC Tournament next March.
