The first weekend of 2025 offered some interesting results when it came to ACC men’s basketball. It was a rough weekend for the three newcomers as SMU fell at home to Duke, who was without head coach Jon Scheyer who did not travel with the team to Texas. Stanford lost at Pittsburgh and California fell at Clemson. Both California teams will be home this week against Virginia and Virginia Tech.
Speaking of the Hokies, they picked up their first ACC win of the season with an 86-85 win over Miami at Cassell Coliseum. Trailing 85-83 with the clock winding down, Mylyjael Poteat converted a three-point play with 2.7 seconds left. The Cavaliers fell at home to Louisville, which will be a problem this season for all schools.
North Carolina, which has struggled early in the season against a tough schedule picked up a huge road win at Notre Dame and don’t look now, but Georgia Tech has won three in a row after rolling over Boston College. Florida State beat Syracuse at home and Wake Forest took down North Carolina State, a team that made a surprising run to the Final Four last March and April. With that said, here are the latest ACC men’s basketball power rankings as another week on the 2024-25 schedule gets underway on Tuesday night.

As a new week begins, three teams to keep an eye on are Pittsburgh, Louisville, and Georgia Tech. Why? Well, all three teams are putting together a winning streak with the Panthers currently on a five-game streak, the Cardinals are on a four-game winning streak and the Yellow Jackets on a three-game winning streak. Of course, not to be overlooked is the top-ranked team Duke, which has won eight in a row, and picked up their eighth straight win over the Mustangs.
