When the 2026-27 men's college basketball season begins next November, there are going to be a lot of new faces on the sideline in the ACC. Over the last couple of weeks, jobs at Syracuse, Boston College, North Carolina, and North Carolina State have opened up.
Syracuse hired former star Gerry McNamara, while UNC parted ways with Hubert Davis after they were bounced in the first round of the NCAA Tournament last week by VCU. That is a job that they hope to attract a big-name coach. On Thursday, North Carolina State opened up when Will Wade left to return to LSU. As far as BC goes, their search is reportedly wrapped up, and they have found their next coach.
Boston College reportedly hiring UConn assistant Luke Murray as its next head coach
According to Jeff Goodman of The Field of 68, Boston College is hiring Luke Murray, an assistant coach on Danny Hurley's staff at UConn. The Huskies are in the Sweet 16 and will play Michigan State on Friday night in the East Regional in Washington.
Boston College has hired UConn assistant Luke Murray as its head coach, sources told @thefieldof68. ⁰⁰Murray has been with Dan Hurley for the past five seasons and been huge in the Huskies success - which includes back to back national titles.

Murray is someone who BC has reportedly been focusing on since they fired Earl Grant. However, if Boston College is looking for the program to take a step to turn around in the ACC, they need to pump more resources into the program. It is not a school that is known for having a big NIL package or a place that can attract some of the top recruits.
If you have never been to a game in Chestnut Hill, it has a library feel to it, as do the women's games. There is no juice in the program, and they certainly don't have the budget to compete in the ACC with some of the top schools. They are in the bottom half, and until they commit more, you could hire anyone there, and they would struggle to win.
