The second week of ACC play saw some interesting results in men's basketball. Duke began the week with a statement win on the road against a very tough Louisville team. It was an impressive win for the Blue Devils, who have asserted themselves in the standings. They then beat SMU at home for a second impressive win last week.
The second most impressive win was Stanford coming back and stunning Virginia Tech on the road. Trailing the Hokies, 65-52, with under four minutes left, the Cardinal turned up the defensive pressure and started knocking down 3-pointers, including the game-winner from Ebuka Okorie drilled a deep 3-pointer with 3.3 seconds left. They lost on Saturday at Virginia, which beat California earlier in the week to sweep the week.
As far as the NCAA Tournament goes, the ACC is in a better place at this time this year than it was last year. The conference is better and deeper, but some of the fringe teams have a lot of work to do over the final two months of action. There are going to be some road games this coming week where teams can pick up some résumé-building wins, and some teams that need to hold court at home. With that said, here are the latest ACC men's basketball power rankings following the second full week of action in conference play.
