Just three weekends are remaining in the ACC men's basketball regular-season. For some teams, it's all about finishing strong to improve their NCAA Tournament seeding. For others, it's all about trying to get on the right side of the bubble. For a select few, it's all about job security beyond this season.
That is the case for at least four ACC head coaches heading into this weekend. The coaching hot seat for college basketball is hot, and there are likely going to be some changes as we approach the end of the season and right after some teams end their seasons. According to Pete Nakos of ON3, four ACC coaches are facing a huge final couple of weeks in the 2025-26 season.
Four ACC coaches on men's basketball hot seat
It has been a tough season for some ACC teams this year. For the second straight year after the additions of SMU, Stanford, and California, the bottom three teams will not make the ACC Tournament next month. It shouldn't come as a surprise that three of the four coaches on the hot seat are in danger of missing the tournament.
Nakos has Earl Grant of Boston College, Damon Stoudamire of Georgia Tech, Jeff Capel of Pittsburgh, and Adrian Autry of Syracuse feeling the heat late in February. Truth be told, the list might be a little longer, but we'll see what happens over the next month.
The Yellow Jackets are on an eight-game losing streak heading into Louisville this weekend, while BC is on a seven-game losing streak as they visit SMU. Pittsburgh has lost five in a row as they host Notre Dame, and Syracuse is 15-11 and 6-8 in the ACC as they host an undermanned UNC team.
This is going to be a big weekend for a lot of teams, but for coaches on the hot seat, things need to turn around quickly as the end of the season nears and seats get hotter and hotter.
