When Virginia Tech fired Brent Pry last month, he was the second power conference coach to get sacked after UCLA's DaShaun Foster was let go the same weekend. Little did anyone know that the Bruins and Hokies were beginning what is turning into one of the wildest coaching carousels we're about to see in college football.
It appears that Pry isn't going to be the only ACC coach fired this year, as three names popped up near the top of Andy Staples' hot seat rankings at On3, and truth be told, it would be more blocks for the Virginia Tech search committee in terms of finding Pry's replacement.
Three ACC football coaches listed high on coaches hot seat list
Before we get into the names, let's be clear, there are a lot of rumors surrounding former Penn State coach James Franklin to Virginia Tech, but it is just that, rumors. I wouldn't expect anything to be finalized anytime soon. Why? Well, more jobs are expected to open up for Franklin to have to choose from, including potentially three more ACC schools.
According to Staples, Florida State's Mike Norvell, North Carolina State's Dave Doeren, and Bill Belichick of North Carolina are feeling the heat entering the final month of the regular season. With the way the season has gone, it is not surprising to see any of the names on the list.

Two of the three ACC coaches on the list are on the Hokies' schedule this year. They went to Raleigh under interim coach Philip Montgomery and beat Doeren and the Wolfpack, 23-21, which sent NC State fans into a tizzy over their head coach. Virginia Tech visits FSU on Nov. 15.
This is shaping up to be a wild coaching cycle, one that the sport hasn't seen in a long time. The more openings, the harder it is going to be for the search committee to outbid other schools for the coach they want. Things are about to get crazy across college football and the ACC.
