Now that the calendar has flipped to March, the madness is beginning. This week the ACC Women’s Basketball Tournament will be in Greensboro and next week, the men will be gathering in Charlotte for their tournament.

This season with the addition of Stanford, California, and SMU, the bottom three teams in the conference will miss the tournament and have their season end on Saturday. Right now, Miami and Boston College are eliminated, while last March’s champion, North Carolina State, needs some wins this week and help to get in.

Virginia Tech has made the field and will be at the Spectrum Center beginning a week from Tuesday with the first round games, but as is the case with everyone else, their last two games will determine their seeding against North Carolina and Clemson.

This season the ACC is top-heavy with Duke, Clemson, and Louisville the three clear favorites who have taken care of business on almost a nightly basis. Teams like SMU, Wake Forest and UNC are teams that have work to do in the tournament and will likely need more than a win next week to get into the 68-team NCAA Tournament field.

We still have a week’s worth of matchups before getting the official bracket as teams jockey for getting a bye or lock up the final double-bye. Here is the information needed for the ACC Tournament next week.
