This past weekend was a college football fan's dream weekend. There were several matchups involving teams that have College Football Playoff dreams with the new 12-team field in 2024.

Ohio State lost by a point at Oregon, but you get the feeling that it's not the last time those two teams will play each other, while Texas secured the spot as the top team in the SEC, for now, with a dominating rout of Oklahoma in the first SEC edition of the Red River Rivalry.

The rest of the slate had teams take of business that were supposed to, and then there was Alabama, who needed to sweat out a two-point conversion against South Carolina at home to avoid a second straight loss after losing at Vanderbilt the week before. What a two weeks for the Crimson Tide, beat Georgia at home, lose at Vandy, then sweat out a win at home over the Gamecocks.

After the dust has settled for the weekend, there is going to be some movement with the College Football Playoff predictions, and here is the post-Week 7 edition.

The new team in the field this week is Iowa State. They continue to just go out and go about their business each week and get the job done. Matt Campbell has been running a tremendous program and this season feels a little different for them.

Texas is the new No. 1 and their reward this week? Georgia at home on Saturday night. The Longhorns will be looking to end the jinx of the top spot. There are a lot of huge matchups next weekend and if there is anything we've learned in the first seven weeks of the 2024 season, change can happen at any time with the latest rankings.
