Military Bowl: (1-1)

2014: Virginia Tech 33, Cincinnati 17

Entering the game 6-6, the Hokies got 157 rushing yards from J.C. Coleman and four Joey Syle field goals in beating the Bearcats. Tech won the game despite allowing Cincinnati 489 yards of offense.

2018: Cincinnati 35, Virginia Tech 31

Four years later, the Bearcats got revenge by edging the Hokies by four points on New Year’s Eve. Virginia Tech, which finished the season 6-7 after the loss, got 219 passing yards from Ryan Willis and Cincinnati won the game with a touchdown with 1:29 remaining in the game.

Chick-fil-A-Bowl (1-1)

2006: Georgia 31, Virginia Tech 24

In one of the more disappointing bowls, the Hokies led the Bulldogs 21-3 at halftime, but Georgia took advantage of Tech turnovers to rally in front of 75,000 fans at the Georgia Dome.

2009: Virginia Tech 37, Tennessee 14

Leading 17-14 at halftime, the Hokies shut out the Volunteers in the second half to pull away. Taylor threw for 209 yards, Jarrett Boykin had 120 receiving yards and Ryan Williams rushed for 117 yards and two touchdowns.
