Virginia Tech Football: 3 dream bowl destinations for 2023
By Scott Roche
Holiday Bowl: vs. Oregon State
Another PAC-12 team like USC, Oregon State finished the season 8-4 but lost their head coach Jonathan Smith who left to go to Michigan State. The Beavers earlier this week promoted defensive coordinator Trent Bray as his replacement.
The Beavers are a good team that has a good defense, however, that was not on display last Friday night in a loss to an Oregon team on the road that was looking for style points to make their case to the College Football Playoff committee. Their quarterback was former Clemson signal-caller DJ Uiagaleli and he had thrown for nearly 2,700 yards this season and 21 touchdowns, but he is entering the transfer portal and will be available for the bowl game.
Oregon State, along with Washington State, doesn’t have a conference for next season and there are reports that they are close to an agreement with the Mountain West Conference to schedule games. The Beavers will be a motivated group looking to finish a good season on a strong note.
These would be three very good opponents for Virginia Tech in a bowl game and these are three bowls that they would jump at to play in.
