Jaylen Jones

Going into the game, Pry knew that Boston College’s running game was effective and he was looking to cut down the possessions the Eagles had. After Tuten’s touchdown run, the Hokies executed an onside kick perfectly, stunning BC with Jaylen Jones recovering the kick.

Early in the second quarter, the Virginia Tech offense turned that extra possession into a 22-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Kyron Drones to Stephen Gosnell for a 17-7 lead. The Hokies went on to win the game, 48-22, in impressive fashion and Jones recovering the kick was a huge momentum play. A play like that isn’t easy as Jones needed to make sure the ball went 10 yards before he touched it. Perfect execution.

Brent Pry

The final turkey leg goes to head coach Brent Pry. After the Hokies started 1-3, they were able to regroup and are in a position that not many saw before ACC play began with a chance to become bowl-eligible. A big reason why they are in this position is because of the fake punt and onside kick.

Those were gutsy calls at the time and both worked out perfectly and allowed Virginia Tech to take control of both games. You could say that those were potential season-saving plays as who knows how each game would have played out. This weekend against Virginia everything available should be on the table in all situations to get the win. No style points are needed this week, just a victory.
