Virginia Tech Football: 3 major positives from NC State loss
By Scott Roche
Virginia Tech still has a chance to become bowl-eligible
The biggest positive, and yes, it’s a major one, is that Virginia Tech still very much is alive for win No. 6 and a bowl game. Ideally, you don’t want to be in the position that they’re in having to go on the road to an in-state rival to get it, but there’s still a chance.
One big reason they still have a chance is because of their win at Boston College on Nov. 11. Coming off a 34-3 loss at Louisville, the Hokies went up to Chestnut Hill, Mass., and dominated the Eagles from the start, picking off quarterback Thomas Castellanos on the game first play.
That set the tone for their first win of the season away from Blacksburg and now, if they want the valuable extra practices after this weekend and extra game to take the next step forward in 2024, they have to win at Virginia.
Virginia quarterback Anthony Colandrea had a take on beating the Hokies next weekend and he gave Virginia Tech great motivation. For a team that has struggled on the road this season, this should be an easy one to be up for. Pry, his staff, and his players know what’s at stake and is there for the taking. They just have to go take it.
