Dan Mullen – ESPN

Ok, you might be thinking, ‘What, Dan Mullen’? Yes, the same Mullen that had success in the SEC with Florida and Mississippi State.

He has a 103-61 record in 13 seasons combined with the Gators and Bulldogs. He went 7-3 in bowl games and he went 34-15 with Florida, including 10 wins in his first season of 2018 and 11 in 2019.

Mullen turned Mississippi State into a bowl team on almost a yearly basis and had success in Gainesville in his first two seasons before things went sideways. He has proven that he is capable of turning around a program and an opportunity to do that with Virginia Tech could be very intriguing to him.

He’s 51 years old and you get the hunch that listening to him on the Thursday night ESPN broadcasts he’s going to get back into coaching sooner rather than later. He was a good recruiter and he has nowhere to to go but up in Blacksburg. This could be a very enticing job to pull him out of the broadcast booth.
