It was a busy weekend for the Virginia Tech athletic department. Friday night, the men’s soccer team defeated Boston College, 1-0, with a second-half goal that was about as pretty of a shot as you see in any college game this season. The women’s soccer team went on the road and won an ACC match, and the volleyball team had a rough weekend at home in a pair of conference matches.

With that said, let’s fire up the latest Virginia Tech Hokies News articles.

Virginia Tech football limps home after two road losses

It was not a good weekend for the Hokies football team. After losing last weekend at Rutgers, they went on the road and lost, 24-17, to Marshall in Huntington, West Virginia Saturday. Things started out well as they drove the length of the field on the opening possession for a 7-0 lead, but things went downhill from there.

At 1-3, they return to Lane Stadium this upcoming Saturday night to open ACC play against the Pittsburgh Panthers. Sunday, the Hokies opened as a 4-point underdog and that sounds about right with the struggles that Brent Pry’s team is currently going through.

Virginia Tech women’s soccer beats Syracuse in Western New York

The Hokies hit the road Sunday for an ACC match at Syracuse and scored three first-half goals on their way to a 4-0 shutout. Emma Pelkowski, Natalie Mitchell, and Anna Weir scored in the first half for the visitors, before Pelkowski added her second two minutes into the second half.

Keeper Alia Skinner recorded the clean sheet for Virginia Tech, which improved to 5-3-3 overall and 2-1-0 in the ACC. They return to the pitch Friday night at home against Wake Forest (7-1-1).

Virginia Tech volleyball swept at home

It was not a good weekend for the Hokies volleyball team. Friday night, they lost in five sets to Florida State, before losing in four sets to Miami Sunday. After beginning the season 9-0, the Hokies have dropped three out of their last four and will look to turn things around Friday at home against Georgia Tech, before traveling to Clemson next Sunday.

ACC to release men’s and women’s basketball schedule

The ACC is set to release the men’s and women’s basketball schedules Tuesday night on the ACC Network. The women’s schedule is set to be released at 7 p.m., followed by the men’s at 8. It’s hard to believe, but the college basketball season is just around the corner for the Hokies as the men will be looking to get back to the NCAA Tournament after missing it last season, while the women will be looking to begin the quest for a deep postseason run that was ended in the NCAA Final Four last spring.
