Virginia Tech Football: Predicting how the Hokies will finish 2023
By Scott Roche
Weeks 10-12
Nov. 11, at Boston College: You think things are bad in Blacksburg, they’re just as bad in Chestnut Hill. The Eagles are 1-2, losing in overtime at home to begin the season against Northern Illinois, they barely beat FCS foe Holy Cross by a field goal. They did take the Seminoles down to the wire last weekend, but that was more Florida State overlooking them. Prediction: Virginia Tech 23, Boston College 17
Nov. 18, vs. NC State: The Wolfpack are 2-1 with a tough season-opening win over Connecticut on the road, then a loss at home to Notre Dame, then a rout of VMI. Dave Dorn’s group like Clawson’s is always ready to play and quite frankly, they are the better team. Prediction: NC State 27, Virginia Tech 17
Nov. 25, at Virginia: Two struggling teams will close out the season in a rivalry game. Last season this game was not played because of the tragedy on Virginia’s campus. Aside from BC, these might end up being the two worst teams in the ACC. Prediction: Virginia Tech 30, Virginia 29
This gives the Hokies a final record of 4-8 and in reality, it might not be too far off and it’s two games off of what we predicted a month ago. With what has gone on, a four-win season feels about right in Blacksburg.
