Weeks 4-6

Saturday, at Marshall: Virginia Tech enters the game as an underdog against the 2-0 Thundering Hurd and it should not be a surprise. Not long ago, the line would be switched around and the Hokies would be the favorite, but oh how the times have changed. This is a good test of the character of the Hokies following last week’s loss against the Scarlet Knights. Prediction: Marshall 28, Virginia Tech 24

Sept. 30, vs. Pittsburgh: Through three games, the Panthers are having issues, especially at quarterback with Boston College transfer Phil Jurkovec. There is a good chance he won’t be under center when they come to Blacksburg in a game that will be an 8 p.m. start under the lights of Lane Stadium. This right now is a complete toss-up. Prediction: Virginia Tech 24, Pittsburgh 20

Oct. 7, at Florida State: The Seminoles are the top team in the ACC, and their game at Clemson this Saturday can cement that. It was clear they were looking past Boston College last week after surviving on the road. This one is easy. Prediction: Florida State 45, Virginia Tech 10
