Virginia Tech Football: 3 bold predictions for 2023 season
By Scott Roche
Virginia Tech knocks off a Top 25 team in 2023
The preseason polls were released in mid-August and the first Associated Press Top 25 had just one Hokies opponent in it with Florida State checking in at No. 8.
Ok, so I’m not saying that Virginia Tech is going to beat the Seminoles in Tallahassee in October, but there is a good chance that other ACC teams are ranked when they show up on the Hokies schedule, and winning one is not out of the question.
The likely opponents to be ranked in ACC play when they appear on the schedule are Louisville, Pittsburgh, and North Carolina State. All three teams picked up votes in the first rankings despite not being in the top 25. Pittsburgh visits the Hokies on Sept. 30 and NC State visits on Nov. 18. Virginia Tech travels to Kentucky to play Louisville on Nov. 4. It’s highly unlikely that Tech only plays one ranked team all year and getting one in league play and winning it would not be surprising.
The future is bright in terms of some of the Hokies recruits, however, the attention this season is on the present and the next three months. If these three predictions become reality, they will be bowling after missing last season.
