Virginia Tech QB Grant Wells throws for over 3,000 yards

Hokies starting quarterback Grant Wells would be the first to admit that 2022 could have been better. He threw for 2,171 yards, nine touchdowns, and nine interceptions in a season where his team only won three games.

Pry went out and got Wells three wide receivers in the transfer portal, Ali Jennings (Old Dominion), Da’Quan Felton (Morgan State), and Jaylin Lane (Middle Tenneesse State) are all transfers out of the portal. That alone should open up the playbook for Virginia Tech this season and allow them to stretch the field more.

It was not all good news out of camp for Wells and Pry as tight end Nick Gallo suffered an injury that is going to sideline the senior captain for an undetermined amount of time. That opens the door for some of the young TEs to get a chance along with a running game that features multiple backs.

Look for Wells to have a bounce-back season for the Hokies, even if transfer Kyron Drones from Baylor gets some time.
