Virginia Tech football wins seven games

Ok, you might think this one is crazy and it might be, but there are multiple reasons for thinking that the Hokies will win seven games in 2023.

First, yes, their non-conference games are against FBS schools, something that the other schools in the ACC are for the most part not doing. Their two Big Ten game are against Purdue and Rutgers, and not the iron of the conference. It could not have been set up better for Pry and Co. with Purdue coming to Blacksburg and Virginia Tech traveling to Rutgers. Again, there could be the worst veneus in the Big Ten they could play at. They also get two Sun Belt teams, Old Dominion and Marshall.

Second, their ACC schedule is tough but very manageable. Aside from Florida State, they get a lot of teams that are picked to finish near the middle of the bottom half of the conference. There is no Clemson or North Carolina so that right there is in their favor.

There are multiple paths to 7-5 for the Hokies, but winning three non-conference games and four ACC games is the path that we see happening. A Bowl game (at least six wins needed) this season would be a big step forward for the program.
