Louisville

There is a lot of preseason love for the Louisville Cardinals in 2023 under Jeff Brohm and some of it has to do with their ACC schedule and lack of the top teams this season.

Louisville does not play Clemson, Florida State, or North Carolina, which makes them a dark horse choice by some of the National media to be a sleeper to reach Charlotte and the conference championship game in December.

Offensively, the Cardinals brought California transfer Jack Plummer in at quarterback to lead an offense that should be more wide-open this season under Brohm and should improve on their average of 24.3 points a game last season.

Defensively, they bring back six starters on a defense that allowed 27.3 points a game last season against some of the iron of the conference. They allowed 35 to Florida State and 31 to Clemson on the road.

Last season Louisville finished the season at 8-5 and closed out the campaign with a 24-7 win over the University of Cincinnati at the Wasabi Fenway Bowl in Boston. This game for Virginia Tech is on the backend of the schedule on Nov. 4, so there could be a lot riding on it when they travel to Kentucky.
