Virginia Tech Football: 3 most overrated teams on 2023 schedule
By Scott Roche
North Carolina State
Despite losing some key players, Dave Doeren’s team is still expected to finish in the top half of the ACC, but not so fast.
Last season, the Wolfpack rallied from a 21-3 deficit late in the third quarter with 19 unanswered points to stun Virginia Tech, 22-21. After Wells gave the Hokies a 21-3 lead in the third quarter with a 20-yard touchdown run, North Carolina State rallied behind three MJ Morris touchdown passes.
This season NC State will have a new quarterback, Brennan Armstrong, who transferred from the University of Virginia and will hope to continue their offensive production that saw them average 24.3 points a game last season.
Defensively, Payton Wilson passed on the NFL Draft and returned for another season for the Wolfpack along with cornerback Aydon White to a defense that allowed just 19.2 points a game.
This should be a winnable game at home for the Hokies and we should get a good read on the Wolfpack early on with a tricky game to open the season at the University of Connecticut before hosting Notre Dame.
