Believe it or not, Virginia Tech football has never played these FBS teams

Virginia Tech football hasn’t played these Conference USA schools
Conference USA is an ever-changing league. It’s in a bit of a transitional state right now, with several new teams joining the fold this upcoming season, but there’s still a decently long list of teams that have never seen Virginia Tech in football.
It’s not shocking that they haven’t played Jacksonville State or Sam Houston State, as these two programs were FCS schools until very recently. It’s also not shocking that Virginia Tech hasn’t faced off with New Mexico State or UTEP, two schools much closer to the west coast.
We’ll cover the Sun Belt schools below, but former members Florida International and Louisiana Tech also highlight the list of CUSA teams the Hokies have yet to play.
Virginia Tech football hasn’t played these Sun Belt schools
There’s a long list of teams in today’s version of the Sun Belt and seven of them haven’t seen Virginia Tech up close. Among the teams that are somewhat newer to the FBS level, the Hokies haven’t played against Coastal Carolina, Georgia Southern, Georgia State, or Texas State.
That’s not the end of the list, as the Hokies haven’t gotten much run down in Alabama, having not played South Alabama or Troy. The final team on the list is Louisiana-Monroe, as the Hokies did play their rivals in Lafayette many years ago.
