Would it shock you to learn that Virginia Tech football hasn’t faced off against nearly half of the current FBS football programs?

The Hokies have been playing football since 1892 and have been members of the ACC for nearly two decades, playing in plenty of important games over the years. Previous members of the Big East, Virginia Tech is used to facing off against talented opponents.

Virginia Tech is certainly not considered a power program in football, but the Hokies have won over 750 games in their long history and played a laundry list of opponents. However, with conference schedules taking much of their season, there’s only a limited chance to match up with many of the other FBS schools.

In actuality, there are 56 current FBS programs that the Hokies haven’t played in their long history and we’re going to take a few moments and look through all of them.

Virginia Tech football hasn’t played these SEC schools

Members of the ACC for 19 years, it’s not shocking to hear that the Hokies have played every team in their own conference, even the ones who joined the conference during the most recent run of realignment. Nearly one-third of their victories are against the current ACC teams, with 60 wins against rival Virginia

As for the SEC, the Hokies haven’t faced off against Mississippi State or Missouri at any point in their history, though they’ve had a chance against the other twelve programs in this league, as well as both future members.
