Virginia Tech Basketball Forward Keve Aluma Enters NBA Draft
Virginia Tech basketball forward Keve Aluma had decided to forego his final year of NCAA eligibility by hiring an agent and declaring for the NBA Draft.
Aluma leaves an ACC Champion and arguably the most talented Hokie in the past few years. In the 2021-22 season, Aluma started all 36 games while leading the team in scoring for the second straight season with 15.8 points per game.
He shot an impressive .547 career percentage from the field, which includes his time at Wofford. When Hokies Head Coach Mike Young accepted the job at Tech and left Wofford, Aluma did the same, following a coach that led him to accolades from the ACC, ESPN, and Naismith.
But this 6-9 big man is more than just an above average shooter, he’s found success on the defensive side of the ball as well, with strengths in rebounding, shot blocking, and man-to-man defense.
Aluma is an NBA hopeful and many believe him to be an NBA probable, with the success of the Virginia Tech basketball program giving a spotlight to the talented players on that squad.
That ACC Championship team from last year will look a lot different next year with Aluma gone. The Hokies are still waiting to see what happens with Justyn Mutts, while Storm Murphy is out of eligible years and Nahiem Alleyne just transferred to UConn.
Regardless, many Hokie fans have now circled June 23rd on their calendars to see where Keve Aluma lands.
