After a long offseason, Virginia Tech football is finally back. It will be a full Lane Stadium for an exciting and important conference matchup against No. 10 North Carolina for the opener. It will be a matchup that could have pretty big implications in the Coastal division of the ACC come the end of the season.

The Hokies will be looking to get off to a hot start after a disappointing 2020 season. Last season, the Tar Heels came away with a 56-45 win in Chapel Hill.

Virginia Tech is coming off of a 5-6 season while North Carolina finished the 2020 season with an 8-4 record.

Virginia Tech vs. North Carolina Predictions Week 1

This game has gained a lot of hype throughout the offseason. North Carolina is coming in as the 10th ranked team in the country and a legit Heisman contender in Sam Howell under center.

The game will likely come down to if this Virginia Tech defense can control the game. The Hokie’s offense should be able to come out and put points on the board but the defense will have to be able to control the game and keep Howell from getting into a rhythm.

The Hokies will also have the environment in their favor. It’ll be a sold-out Lane Stadium under the lights creating a hostile environment for the Tar Heels to come on the road to. Combine the environment and the pressure to win and North Carolina could be in trouble, Tech could catch them on their toes and get a big win.

Where to watch Virginia Tech vs. UNC
