Virginia Tech football: Caleb Farley Landing Spots
Coming in at the fifth spot is the Denver Broncos. They just released AJ Boyue their prized free agent from not so long ago. This leaves the Broncos in a tough spot as their defense is slowly getting older, and the offense doesn’t seem to have an answer at quarterback.
The Broncos need to pick up an elite corner in this draft. Or face the reaper as the Chiefs, Raiders, and Chargers will eat them alive through the air.
Kansas City has one of the most prolific offenses we have seen since “The Greatest Show on Turf” almost 20-years ago. The Chargers now have their new franchise quarterback with several top-end receiving threats. Let’s not forget the Raiders last year spend a 1st round and 3rd round pick on WR.
Currently, Denver does not have an answer to any of that, which is where Farley comes into play. He is an elite man-to-man corner with the speed to even match Tyreek Hill…mostly.
However, they came in at 5th mainly due to their need for a QB seems to be much higher and I would anticipate them using this pick to trade higher for a QB or use this pick in a trade for a QB. If the unlikely scenario happens where they sign Jimmy Garrappolo if the 49ers cut him, then I could see them sticking here and this should be the pick.
They need a CB maybe more than any other team in the top-15. However, you can’t win without a QB, this pick is banking on them signing a FA QB so they can take Farley here.
