The Virginia Tech football program got a big boost with the 2021 commitment of offensive line prospect, Canon Boone.

Canon Boone, a class of 2021 three-star offensive line prospect from Dickinson High School in Texas, committed to Virginia Tech on Saturday night, via a post on his Twitter account.

A 6′ 4″, 280-pound talent who mostly plays at the offensive tackle spot, Boone chose the Hokies over the likes of Arizona, Colorado, Houston, Mississippi State, Navy and Purdue, among others.

With his addition, Virginia Tech now has 19 commitments for the 2021 class, with 17 of the group ranked as three-star recruits by 247Sports (the two others remain un-ranked). Boone becomes the third offensive line recruit for that class as well, joining Danijel Miletic, a 6′ 3″, 290-pound guard from Germany, and Bryce Goodner, a 6′ 3″, 300-pound talent out of McMinn High School in Tennessee.

The Hokies have are tied for the fourth-largest 2021 recruiting haul in the ACC with Georgia Tech, but are ranked as  the 11th best class in the league, surpassing only Duke, Syracuse and Wake Forest. Nationally, 247Sports ranked the program’s recruits as the 40th best group for the class of 2021, trailing only Memphis, Virginia Tech head coach Justin Fuente’s former school.
