A day after dishing out an offer to 2023 forward Carter Lang, Virginia Tech head basketball coach Mike Young and his staff stayed busy, offering 2021 big man Preston Squire as well, according to a post on his Twitter account.

A rising senior, Squire is a 6′ 11″, 210-pound forward/center from Layton High School in Layton, Utah, who also spent a portion of his high school career at Wasatch Academy (UT), one of the top high school programs in the country.

Last season, he helped Layton to a 21-3 overall record and a #6 ranking in the state of Utah, according to MaxPreps.

While Squire’s strength is obviously reliant on his size, the best part of his game may be his ability to connect from long-range, as he’s an extremely comfortable player on the perimeter with a very clean stroke. Much like Lang, his potential teammate down the line, an obvious recruiting trend under Young seems to be his search for versatile forwards who can stay away from the basket to space out defenses.

Virginia Tech is the first Division I program to offer Squire a scholarship. He joins a list of almost 40 players who currently hold offers in the 2021 class from the Hokies, with three projected roster spots set to open at the end of the 2020-2021 season.
