Virginia Tech basketball coach Mike Young’s 85th scholarship offer (yes, you read that right) spread between the classes of 2021, 2022 and 2023 was dished out on Thursday to the class of 2023 forward Carter Lang from St. Anne’s-Belfield School in Charlottesville.

Lang is a 6’9″, 225-pound rising sophomore that helped the Saints to a 20-9 overall record in 2019-2020. He’s best described as a hybrid forward with a crafty post-up game and a willingness to shoot from behind the perimeter. The emphasis of his early on-court development has been primarily in pick-and-roll and back to the basket situations, but his all-around game is quickly developing.

The scholarship opportunity from Virginia Tech was just the blossoming talent’s second Division I offer, as he was also offered by Old Dominion back on July 19th.

Obviously, as Lang is the 14th player to be offered by Virginia Tech in 2023 alone, the focus recruiting wise may not be strictly focused on him, but it does show how Coach Young and his staff are continuing to target players in Virginia Tech’s pipeline recruiting areas, which can extend from the DMV (Delaware-Maryland-Virginia) area down the coast to Florida.
