The Preseason All-ACC Team has been released and three Hokies have made the cut

The Atlantic Coast Conference announced their Preseason All-ACC Team on Wednesday, as voted upon last week by 167 credentialed media members at the ACC Kickoff.

While there are the usual players on the list such as Lamar Jackson of Louisville, Derwin James of Florida State, and so on, the Virginia Tech Hokies have landed three players on the list ahead of the 2017-18 campaign.

Senior wide receiver Cam Phillips, junior linebacker Tremaine Edmunds, and redshirt-senior offensive guard Wyatt Teller, all made the Preseason All-ACC Team on Wednesday.

Cam Phillips has never made an All-ACC team in his career, but Tremaine Edmunds was a second-team selection last season, while Wyatt Teller was an All-ACC honorable mention on the offensive line.

The Preseason All-ACC selection is the latest in a considerable line of accolades for Tremaine Edmunds, who has also been named to the Nagurski and Bednarik Award Watch Lists. Both awards honor the nation’s most outstanding defensive player.

As for Cam Phillips, this is the second instance in as many days that his name has surfaced regarding preseason accolades. On Tuesday, Phillips was named to the Biletnikoff Award Watch List, honoring the nation’s top wide receiver.

Virginia Tech’s three selections on the Preseason All-ACC roster ranked in a tie for third in the conference alongside Florida State and NC State. Miami’s four selections ranked second in the ACC, while Clemson had the highest number of players selected with five.
