The Virginia Tech Hokies added to an already stacked 2018 recruiting class with the verbal commitment of running back Caleb Steward

The Virginia Tech Hokies have been on fire on the recruiting trail for quite some time, and the news just continued to get better on Independence Day.

The Hokies were able to gain the commitment of 3-star running back Caleb Steward on Tuesday, as he chose Virginia Tech over Duke, Bowling Green, Boston College, East Carolina, and a host of others.

Steward is a 5’11”, 203 lbs. running back out of Ed White High School in Jacksonville, Florida, and is the first running back to commit to the Hokies in the 2018 class. Steward is tabbed as the 70th rated running back in the country and the 170th ranked prospect in a stacked state of Florida, according to 247Sports.

While the program could potentially add another running back to the roster before the recruiting cycle wraps up, there is a very good chance that Steward could be the only running back to commit in the 2018 class. After adding Jalen Holston and Terius Wheatley in this past February’s class, the Hokies now have six running backs on scholarship before adding a guy like Steward in 2018.

Steward is the 17th commitment overall in tow for the Hokies, who continue to fly up the team recruiting rankings for multiple outlets.
