Former Hokies point guard Seth Allen had a pre-draft workout with the Sacramento Kings

Virginia Tech head coach Buzz Williams has certainly left his imprint on the program in his short time in Blacksburg, coaching his team to a resurgence in the ACC and an appearance in the NCAA Tournament in just three short seasons.

With two draft eligible players ahead of this year’s NBA Draft, Williams is also hoping to check off another box on the rebuild list: Having a Hokies player drafted.

How fitting it would be for one of the catalysts of the rebuild in Blacksburg to be the first member of the Hokies drafted during the Buzz Williams era.

Former Hokies point guard Seth Allen, a projected second round pick, worked out for the Sacramento Kings on Wednesday, his first with the team.

Among the college prospects participating in the workout with Allen were Arizona forward Lauri Markkanen and North Carolina forward Justin Jackson. Both Markkanen and Jackson are projected first round picks.

As for the other guards who worked out for the Kings, Virginia’s London Perrantes and Kansas’ Frank Mason were among the many joining Allen.

The Kings hold the fifth and 10th picks in the draft, which they most certainly will not use on Seth Allen. They do however hold the 34th pick in the second round, and will likely be looking at a host of guards in that spot, including Seth Allen.

Allen averaged 13.0 points per game last season as a senior at Virginia Tech, and shot a career-best 54.0% from the field.
