The Virginia Tech Hokies nabbed their eighth commitment of the 2018 recruiting class on Tuesday night.

The Virginia Tech Hokies added their eighth member to the 2018 recruiting class on Tuesday night, as cornerback Braxton Clark out of Dr. Phillips High School in Orlando, Florida announced his verbal decision committing to the Hokies.

Clark, a 6’3″, 180 lbs. rising high school senior, was an unranked prospect right up until his commitment on Tuesday night. Since verbally pledging to the Hokies, 247Sports has updated their rankings and has given Clark a 3-star rating.

Virginia Tech extended an offer to Clark on Monday afternoon, and it did not take much time for Clark to end his recruitment and pull the trigger.

The offer from the Hokies was just the second power five offer for Clark, who received five other FBS scholarship offers.

The commitment of Clark continues the mini-pipeline of sorts for the Hokies at Dr. Phillips High School, as the team got their foot in the door with the commitment of Clark’s teammate, Robert Porcher IV, from the 2017 class.

As reported by Tech Sideline, the Hokies are also in on another one of Clark’s teammates, Dr. Phillips 2018 cornerback Tanner Ingle.

With the news of Clark’s commitment, coupled with the signing of Robert Porcher IV in the 2017 class, it will be interesting to watch to continued pursuit of Ingle, as the Hokies look to improve upon an already up-and-coming recruiting class with yet another prospect from Dr. Phillips.

As mentioned, Clark is the eighth member of the 2018 class, and is now the third cornerback to enter the fold in the newest recruiting cycle, as Chamarri Conner and Nasir Peoples have already committed to the Hokies.

Cornerback is clearly a priority in this class, and the early returns seem promising for 2018.
