VT Baseball: Nick Anderson Named ACC Co-Pitcher of the Week
Redshirt-junior pitcher Nick Anderson was named ACC Co-Pitcher of the Week on Monday afternoon
Virginia Tech Baseball has gotten back to their winning ways of late, improving to 13-9 overall and 3-3 in the ACC after their latest homestand at English Field in Blacksburg.
Over the weekend, the Hokies took two-of-three from #1 Florida State, and one player is receiving special recognition from the ACC for his efforts.
On Sunday afternoon, the Hokies took the rubber match of their three game series against the top-ranked Seminoles by a final score of 17-0, behind eight scoreless innings and five strikeouts from redshirt-junior Nick Anderson, who was named ACC Co-Pitcher of the Week on Monday afternoon.

With the victory on Sunday, Anderson improved his record to 4-1 on the year and notched his fourth quality start of the campaign. Additionally, with his effort over the weekend, Anderson lowered his ERA to a career-best 1.74. He has struck out 24 batters in 31.0 innings of work, and opponents are only hitting .220 against him for the season.
The Hokies will need Anderson to continue to pitch well for the rest of the season if they want to be competitive in a difficult ACC, as the brunt of the work is undoubtedly still out in front of them.
In the upcoming schedule, Tech has two non-conference games against William & Mary and Campbell inserted around two separate three-game conference sets against Pittsburgh and Boston College.
The game against William & Mary will be a rematch on Tuesday afternoon at English Field, as the Hokies look to avenge a 19-10 road loss to the Tribe on March 8th.
Anderson is not expected to pitch in that game with it being just two games removed from his last start, but will take the mound again this upcoming weekend at Pittsburgh as he looks to continue his hot stretch of pitching.
